Starting November 9th the fall play “Rumors” will be produced here at AMHS by the Auburn Mountainview Theatre Company. David Ellis, language arts and drama teacher here at AMHS reveals the plotline for the fall play. “It’s a broad comedy called a farce. It’s about antics that happen when people are confused about what’s happening at a dinner party.” Ellis explains, “Some people think something is happening, then someone else comes in. They’re running in and out of the doors trying to keep a secret. Crazy stuff happens” said Ellis. The play doesn’t have a main protagonist or character, so the audience must keep a close eye on everyone. One of the many characters at this mysterious dinner party is Claire Ganz, played by Elliot Chafetz and Kira Cox, seniors here at AMHS. “Pulling yourself out of your personal character, and making yourself a new person” Chafetz describes as one of the many struggles the cast faces when producing plays. Even though there may be a bit of struggle behind the scenes the cast still holds their heads up high; impatient for the upcoming production. “Not nervous at all!” Jessica Chase junior here at AMHS claims, also known as one of the two Chris Gorman’s in the play Rumors. Chris Gorman is also played by Callie Basler, freshman here at AMHS. “There is so much excitement, there’s no room for nerves.” Chase explains. The whole cast are pumped up and excited for the upcoming play; especially Jaden Smith, junior here at AMHS who plays the part of Glenn Cooper in Rumors. “This is my first play,” Smith shrugged. “I recited a portion of Romeo and Juliet and my teacher was like ‘whoa’ and told Mr. Ellis. One of my friends told me to join, and when they told me I was like ‘why not, I can audition for it’. That’s basically how I ended up getting into here. So yeah, it’s a new found talent I guess.” Other than Smith, the rest of the wonderful cast have been in multiple plays and musicals. “We’re just one big family!” The entire cast exclaims with joy as they rehearse lines for the play. For upcoming secrets and mysteries, you don’t want to miss the fall play Rumors. Here at AMHS from November 9th to November 11th.

Friday, October 6th was our yearly pink out tailgate party, and the night the lions took the win! Senior ASB Secretary Wendy Mordo explains the purpose of the tailgate, “The pink out tailgate was really just a hangout with Auburn High before the game, and to just have fun.” Though that wasn’t really the true purpose for the pink out tailgate. “One reason was called Auburn United, where we spread positivity with Auburn High instead of being negative toward each other. The second reason is to raise money for breast cancer,” explains the Activities Director, Jana Thomas. As of now they are unsure of how much money they have raised at the tailgate, since all proceeds went through Auburn High.
The thing that makes this pink out so special was the fact that we got together with Auburn High, which normally would never happen. Rather than being negative toward Auburn High, our opponent, we got together with them and had a blast partying with them. One student who went to the tailgate explains, “It was pretty fun, I played bra pong and watched some people get dunked in the dunk tank. There was also some cool food trucks, but I only got a basket of donuts from the donut truck.” Overall, it was a blast getting together with Auburn High and playing cool games and eating some cool food.
